The Project
Technology Learning Collaborative (TLC) is a professional association that drives digital literacy, access, and inclusion in Philadelphia by promoting professional collaboration, training, and networking. With more than 400 members, they work to improve digital literacy across Philadelphia by raising awareness, sharing resources and opportunities, advocating, and convening the community to discuss best practices.
Each year the membership organization hosts TLC Conference, a day-long event focused on further educating the community on digital literacy strategies and raising awareness of the digital inclusion needs around Philadelphia. This professional event keeps attendees engaged and encourages collaboration with a full day of keynote speakers, break-out sessions, and networking!
The ‘Why’
As a membership organization, convening is critical to Technology Learning Collaborative’s mission and while many of their events are member-only, the annual conference is open to everyone! Hosted annually during National Digital Inclusion Week, TLC Conference aims to raise awareness of the digital inclusion needs and digital literacy strategies around Philadelphia while providing the community with a much-needed space for education and networking.
The Plan
Being their first conference since pre-pandemic, TLC knew they needed to come back stronger than ever - with impactful speakers, a polished and professional experience for attendees, and appropriate COVID precautions.
Previously planned exclusively by a volunteer committee, TLC hired Catherine in 2022 to support their Executive Director with the logistics of the event so the committee and staff could remain focused on sponsorship, speakers, and promotions. With a successful return of the conference in 2022, TLC continued to work with Catherine on the logistical aspects of the event through 2024!
The Results
TLC Conference returned from its COVID-related hiatus with a refreshed and professional feel! With a successful event in 2022, Catherine and the Technology Learning Collaborative team were able to add additional touches in 2023 to enhance the overall experience for attendees and the organization was able to surpass their sponsorship goal. The seamless day-long conference kept attendees engaged, sponsors happy, and committee and staff available to network and enjoy the day, while Catherine took the lead on event management!
